Julian Davies – Independent Financial Adviser/Managing Director
Julian is the Managing Director and one of the financial advisers, and has been giving financial advice since 1988.
After cutting his teeth as a financial consultant at Legal & General for the first 8 years, Julian then progressed to the more technical and challenging world of an independent financial adviser in 1996.
Davies Financial was later established in 2005 as Julian wanted to work on developing his own client-focussed practice and to spend as much time as possible dealing with his own clientele.
Julian is Level 4 Diploma qualified and enjoys the challenge of dealing with complex financial planning challenges and then converting these into plain English to help clients understand their options.
As the firm has grown, Julian’s responsibilities have been moving gradually from mainly client-facing, to a combination of staff management and company oversight, whilst continuing to advise existing clients.
In his leisure time Julian loves to spend as much time on holiday with his family as he can, is a keen DIYer and occasionally plays golf when the time and weather permits.
Debbie Miles – Office Manager
Debbie is our office manager and has been working for Davies Financial since 2002.
She ensures the business runs smoothly on a daily basis and her role includes a range of responsibilities – from managing the finances and accounts to making sure the cupboards are stocked with nice coffee for our clients!
Debbie is actively involved throughout the business and is always on hand to offer support both to our clients and the rest of the team. Indeed, she is the ‘go to’ person for our team.
When Debbie isn’t busy juggling the many tasks that keep the business running effectively and efficiently, she enjoys her time away from the office travelling with her husband in their motorhome ‘Agnes’ whenever possible.
Cheryl Barker – Independent Financial Adviser
Cheryl is also a qualified financial adviser and works alongside Julian advising new and existing clients in all aspects of financial planning.
Cheryl joined the firm in 2016 after having previously worked as a financial adviser for HSBC. She holds the Level 4 Diploma that is required to be a financial adviser. She is now working towards her Level 6 qualification to become a Chartered Financial Planner.
Outside of work, Cheryl is kept busy by her young family, however when she does get some time, she loves to run and make beautiful things out of glass.
Jessica Davies – Paraplanner & Protection Adviser
Jessica is one of our Para-planners and is also our Protection Adviser.
She supports Cheryl and Julian in the research behind the advice we give and produces the reports we provide to our clients, and provides support to Debbie, the office manager.
In her role as Protection Adviser, she advises the firm’s clients in respect of all protection needs such as, life insurance, critical illness cover & income protection.
Jessica joined the firm in June 2017, working alongside her studies at Cardiff University. She officially started full-time in June 2018 after graduating with a law degree.
Jessica is now studying for her Level 4 Diploma in financial services, with the aim of becoming a qualified financial adviser. She then plans to go on to Level 6 to become a Chartered Financial Planner, with her final goal of becoming a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society.
In her spare time, Jessica enjoys walking her boisterous Labradors, Archie and Milo, (in all weather conditions!). Jessica has also spent the last year renovating her house and especially enjoys the interior design side of it.
Steve Williams – Senior Paraplanner
Steve works alongside Julian in monitoring and developing the firm’s investment strategy as well as providing technical support to the firm’s financial advisers. He joined the firm in January 2020 having been in the financial planning profession for ten years.
Steve is Chartered and a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society. In addition, Steve also completed the Investment Management Certificate in 2015 and was awarded a Post Graduate Certificate (PGCert) in Financial Planning and Business Management through the Manchester Metropolitan University in 2019.
Outside of work, Steve enjoys keeping fit, getting involved with local charities and social enterprises, and spending time with family and friends.
